Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the acceptance of the 2023 San Mateo County Summer Enrichment Grant in the amount of $44,016 and amending the Parks and Recreation Department Fiscal Year 2022-23 Operating Budget pursuant to budget amendment #23.051.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors has approved $3 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to create the 2023 San Mateo County Summer Enrichment Program. The Parks and Recreation Department (Department) applied for and received a grant in the amount of $44,016 for the Department's Summer Camp Programs. The total grant amount is divided between two out of three of the Department's summer camp sites, with $23,944 going to Terrabay Summer Camp and $20,072 going to the Orange Memorial Park Summer Camp. Staff applied for, but did not receive, an award for the Ponderosa Summer Camp this year. Staff is contacting the County to determine why Ponderosa Summer Camp was not selected but has not received a response at the time of drafting this report. Staff may report back on this via a subsequent memorandum.

The Terrabay Summer Camp grant amount is slightly higher than the Orange Memorial Park Summer Camp due to the higher fee to attend specialty camps offered at Terrabay Recreation Center, which are focused on a specific activity or area of learning such as cooking, science, or basketball. At Terrabay Summer Camp, instructors include both outside contractors and staff who have expertise in the topic being offered.
