Body
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Bimbo Bakeries USA has a history of being a generous donor and sponsor of several City programs and initiatives. Over the years, Bimbo Bakeries USA has made generous donations to the Parks and Recreation Department to support programs such as the Francisco Terrace Park renovation project, park improvements on Centennial Way, the Aquatics Program at Orange Memorial Pool, the Adult Day Care Program at Magnolia Center, and the annual Holiday Food Distribution.

The South San Francisco Fire and Police Departments provide an annual Holiday Food Distribution for low income families during the holiday season. Last year, the City hosted two food distributions on November 21, 2022 and December 20, 2022 which provided food to over 600 families. This year, Bimbo Bakeries USA generously donated over 1,000 units of pan breads, English muffins, and other snacks, with a retail value of $5,000, as well as a monetary donation of $3,250 to the Fire Department to purchase food and gift cards for the annual Holiday Food Distribution. Each family who participated in this event received produce boxes, chicken, eggs, milk, dry goods and two baked items donated by Bimbo Bakeries USA. Additionally, over 760 children were given $35 Target Gift Cards, and over 150 makeup kits were given to families with teenage girls.
