WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") is currently undertaking the process to prepare a General Plan Update to its 1999 General Plan; and

WHEREAS, on March 27, 2019, through a competitive proposal process, the City selected Raimi + Associates as the consultant to assist the City with the General Plan Update and executed a Consulting Services Agreement ("Agreement") with Raimi + Associates for an initial amount of $2,660,299; and

WHEREAS, on July 31, 2020, the City approved the First Amendment to the Agreement to include additional work relating to the Commission on Racial and Social Equity for the amount of $149,844 to be paid out of the project contingency funds; and

WHEREAS, on March 10, 2021, the City approved the Second Amendment to the Agreement for services relating to the General Plan Update for an additional amount of $629,762; and

WHEREAS, the scope of work under the Agreement includes preparation of a General Plan Update, Zoning Code Update and Environmental Impact Report; and

WHEREAS, in November 2020, the City Council selected a Preferred Land Use Scenario; and

WHEREAS, following selection of the Preferred Land Use Scenario, staff initiated work on a Climate Action Plan update; and

WHEREAS, a comprehensive benchmarking study of the City's energy and water usage and greenhouse gas emissions for all City owned buildings will help guide decisions relating to future climate action goals and allow for transparency as the City tracks its Climate Action Planning goals; and
