Recommendation
It is recommended that the Parks and Recreation Commission receive an update on the Centennial Way Park South, Oyster Point IIC and Orange Memorial Park Aquatic Center projects.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Centennial Way Park South
Despite the rain and mud, the community and elected officials gathered on February 3 to celebrate the groundbreaking of Centennial Trail Park South. The ceremony included remarks from Congressman Kevin Mullin, Mayor James Coleman, Park and Recreation Commission Chair Ruth DeNardi, Caltrans District Director Dina El-Tawansy, and Caltrans Office of Innovative Programs Local Assistance Chief Gretchen Chavez. Members of the community assisted in the planting of six trees and helped with litter removal along the trail. Snacks for the event were donated by Bimbo's Bakery.

The contractor has installed construction fencing, begun clearing and grubbing the site and installed tree protection zones. Fabrication is underway of granite skate area elements. Electrical and storm drain trenching is scheduled for the coming week, but may be impacted by rain and wet conditions. The project is tracking to a late summer 2024 completion.

Oyster Point IIC
The notice to proceed for construction was issued to GECMS, Inc. on January 2. Construction fencing was installed early January, resulting in the closure of the upper parking lot, a portion of East Basin Road, a segment of the Bay Trail and the windsurf launch. The north-south connector pathway offers trail users a detour to connect to the Bay Trail. Closure notices and detour signage have been posted around the site. The fishing pier, boat ramp and lower parking lots remain open during construction. This north-south connector pathway will have limited closures with notices posted in advance.
