Resolution accepting a San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) Highway Program grant in the amount of $1,486,790 for the Junipero Serra Boulevard & I-280 Westborough Pedestrian & Bicycle Connectivity and Safety Project (st2301).

WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco intends to provide safe alternate modes of transportation for pedestrians and bicyclists through the Junipero Serra Boulevard & I-280 Westborough Boulevard Pedestrian and Bicycle Connectivity and Safety Project ("Project"); and
WHEREAS, Active South City, an update to the City of South San Francisco's Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plans, identified the Project as a priority; and
WHEREAS, the Project will provide alternate mobility movements through the corridors by way of enhanced pedestrian and bicycling facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco, in conjunction with the TA, wishes to sponsor the implementation of the Project Initiation Document (PID) and Project Approval & Environmental Document (PA&ED) phases; and
WHEREAS, staff requests the City Council accept a TA Highway Program grant in the amount of $1,486,790 with a local match of $160,000 for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is also requested to approve Budget Amendment Number 24.032, which will add $1,646,790 into the Project funding which consists of a TA Highway Program grant award in the amount of $1,486,790 with a City local match of $160,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of South San Francisco that the City hereby accepts $1,486,790 from the TA for the Junipero Serra Boulevard & I-280 Westborough Pedestrian & Bicycle Connectivity and Safety Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council approves Budget Amendment Number 24.032 to add $1,646,790 into the Project funds which consists of a TA Highway Program grant in the amount of $1,486,790 with a City local match of $160,000.
