Title

Resolution accepting a grant award in the amount of $450,000 from the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA), authorizing the City Manager to execute a funding agreement with the TA and approving Budget Amendment #23.061 to add $655,000 for the Junipero Serra Boulevard and Westborough Boulevard Pedestrian and Bicycle Connectivity and Safety Project Feasibility Study.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Junipero Serra Boulevard and Westborough Boulevard corridors lack bicycling and pedestrian facilities as alternate safe modes of transportation to access destinations such as BART, shopping centers, schools, libraries, and recreation venues; and

 

WHEREAS, Active South City has identified the Junipero Serra Boulevard and Westborough Boulevard Pedestrian and Bicycle Connectivity and Safety Project (“project”) as a priority project; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco (“City”) applied for and was awarded Pedestrian and Bicycle Program Cycle 6 funds from the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) in the amount of $450,000 for a feasibility study for the project; and

 

WHEREAS, the feasibility study will develop initial concept plans with a focus towards providing safe bicycling and pedestrian facilities in partnership with the City of South San Francisco communities through the proactive use of public meetings, events, and social media; and

 

WHEREAS, Budget Amendment #23.061 will add $655,000 into the project which consists of a TA fund in the amount of $450,000 with a City local match of $135,000, and project management of $70,000.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of South San Francisco that the City hereby accepts $450,000 from the San Mateo County Transportation Authority for the Junipero Serra Boulevard and Westborough Boulevard Pedestrian and Bicycle Connectivity and Safety Project Feasibility Study (Study).

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council approves Budget Amendment #23.061 to add $655,000 for the Study to reflect the accepted $450,000 in grant funding and the appropriated $205,000 from the Citywide Transportation Impact Fee for a local match and project management.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute the documents necessary to accept the grant funding and take any other actions necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution on behalf of the City Council, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
