WHEREAS, the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) has awarded the City $4,000 in grant funding to support programs and services promoting gender equity in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM); and

WHEREAS, ASTC grant funding is part of an IF/THEN initiative committed to funding efforts that cultivate a culture shift in girls to build their interest in STEM careers; and

WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") strategic plan goals include the improvement of quality of life under priority #2; and

WHEREAS, funds will be used to promote visibility of women in STEM who are typically underrepresented through displays, exhibits and workshops for the public; and

WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of the grant funding in the amount of $4,000 from ASTC to support programs and services promoting gender equity in STEM; and

WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to amend Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-2023 Operating Budget of the Library Department via Budget Amendment 23.035.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby accept $4,000 in grant funding from the Association of Science and Technology Centers.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby approve Budget Amendment 23.035 to amend the Library Department's FY 2022-2023 Operating Budget in order to reflect an increase of $4,000.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a grant agreement and any other necessary documents on behalf of the City to carry out the intent of this resolution, ...
