Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt a resolution accepting $29,454.17 from the South San Francisco Friends of the Library to support an opening day collection at the New Main Library, and approving Budget Amendment 23.030.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The South San Francisco Friends of the Library (FOL) have been setting aside $500 at each quarterly FOL membership meeting for approximately 15 years, in anticipation of providing support for an opening day collection at a New Main Library. As this dream has become a reality, the FOL is eagerly releasing these funds that are targeted to provide a fresh, timely, engaging collection for immediate checkout on the grand opening day. Savings to date total $29,454.17. The opening day collection will feature classic materials as well as current bestsellers for all ages, in book, DVD and Blu-ray formats.
FISCAL IMPACT
FOL funds in the amount of $29,454.17 will be used to amend the Library Department’s 2022-23 general fund budget per Budget Amendment 23.030.
RELATIONSHIP TO STRATEGIC PLAN
Building a new Library, Parks and Recreation Center as part of the Community Civic Campus is an action item in the City Strategic Plan under Priority #2: Quality of Life. This funding will support library collections in our New Main Library.
CONCLUSION
Acceptance of this resolution will provide an exciting and engaging opening day collection at our New Main Library. It is recommended that the City Council accept $29,454.17 from the South San Francisco Friends of the Library and approve Budget Amendment 23.030.
