WHEREAS, in January 2022, the Police Department submitted a grant application to the State of California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for funding of personnel overtime, equipment, and training expenses for the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP); and

WHEREAS, the grant application was reviewed and approved by OTS in July 2022 and the Police Department was awarded a grant for $105,000; and

WHEREAS, the grant funding will be used to augment the operating budget of the Police Department for Fiscal Year 2022-23, including payment of personnel expenses and equipment purchase relating to traffic safety enforcement; and

WHEREAS, acceptance of this grant meets Strategic Goals #2 and #3 by rendering skilled police, fire and emergency service management and providing a high quality of life for residents; and

WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of a grant in the amount of $105,000 for personnel overtime, equipment, and training expenses from the State of California, Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for the "Selective Traffic Enforcement Program".

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts the $105,000 grant from the State of California, Office of Traffic Safety and amends the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Police Department Operating Budget to reflect an increase of $105,000.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council does hereby approve Budget Amendment 23.013.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a grant agreement, any other necessary documents on behalf of the City to carry out the intent of this resolution, ...
