RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council, by motion, accept the construction improvements of the West Orange Avenue and Hillside Boulevard Pedestrian Crossing Enhancements Project (tr2001) in accordance with plans and specifications (Total Construction Cost $172,024).

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
On February 23, 2022, the City Council of South San Francisco awarded the West Orange Avenue and Hillside Boulevard Pedestrian Crossing Enhancements Project (tr2001) to Golden Bay Construction, Inc. to install pedestrian safety improvements including advanced pedestrian striping, high visibility crosswalks, and ADA curb ramps at the following locations:
• West Orange Avenue & Canal Street
• West Orange Avenue & Myrtle Avenue
• Hillside Boulevard & Claremont Drive
The Engineering Division inspected the work and found the project to be complete in accordance with the contract documents as of August 2, 2022. Project location map and construction photos are included as Attachments 1 and 2, respectively, of this staff report.
FISCAL IMPACT
The project is funded in the City of South San Francisco’s fiscal year 2021-22 Capital Improvement Program (Project No. TR2001) with sufficient funds allocated to cover the Total Construction Budget.
The total construction cost incurred for the project is summarized as follows:

The program includes $204,000 of Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) Federal funds with the remaining funding coming from the Measure A Gas Tax funding source. If there’s remaining local funds available after the close of the project, they will be reallocated to other CIP projects.
RELATIONSHIP TO STRATEGIC PLAN
Approval of this action will contribute to the City’s Strategic Plan outcome of improved Quality of Life by maintaining and improving infrastructure to serve the public.
CONCLUSION
Staff recommends acceptance of the project as complete. Upon acceptance, a Notice of Completion will be filed with the County of San Mateo Recorder’s office. At the end of the thirty-day lien period, the retention funds will be released to the contractor after the City receives one-year warranty bond.
