Resolution of the City Council to extend the City observance of the Christmas Eve Holiday from a half day to a full day for December 23, 2021.

WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco currently observes Christmas Eve as a half-day holiday (four hours), as memorialized in Council-approved Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with each recognized employee organization; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2021, the Christmas Day holiday will be observed on Friday, December 24 and the Christmas Eve holiday will be observed on Thursday, December 23, 2021; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco wishes to recognize City employees for their extraordinary efforts and contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly throughout the 2020-2021 holidays; and

 

WHEREAS, staff recommends extending the Christmas Eve holiday from a half-day to a full-day in 2021, on a one-time basis, in partial recognition of City employee efforts and contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

 

1.                     The City Council hereby designates December 23, 2021 as a full-day City holiday and authorizes the closure of City offices and facilities, except those necessary to operate on a continuous basis to protect public health and safety.

2.                     This action shall be effective immediately and shall be limited to the 2021 holiday schedule.
