Resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a transient occupancy tax remittance agreement with short term vacation rental platforms

WHEREAS, on June 12, 2019 the City Council waived first reading and adopted an ordinance to permit and manage short term vacation rentals citywide; and

 

WHEREAS, as part of the ordinance, short term vacation rentals shall be considered a residential structure that is rented to a transient occupant for a period of less than 30 days; and

 

WHEREAS, the transient occupancy tax ordinance in Chapter 4.20 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code shall apply to short term vacation rentals for a period of less than 30 days; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council authorizes the City Manager to execute a transient occupancy tax remittance agreement consistent with Chapter 4.20 with participating short-term vacation rental platforms providing services in the City of South San Francisco; and

 

WHEREAS, on June 26, 2019 the City Council waived second reading and adopted the ordinance, effective 30 days from adoption.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco authorizes the City Manager to execute a transient occupancy tax remittance agreement provided as Exhibit A, with modifications as deemed necessary by the City Manager, City Attorney or designee, to ensure transient occupancy tax ordinance compliance.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
