Resolution accepting $157,722 from the California Department of Justice for the Tobacco Grant Program to be used for personnel overtime, equipment, and training expenses and amend the Police Department’s Operating Budget for Fiscal Years 2025-2028 by approving Budget Amendment Number 26.051.

WHEREAS, the California Department of Justice (CA DOJ) for the Tobacco Grant Program (TGP) has awarded the City a grant in the amount of $157,722 for personnel overtime, equipment, and training expenses; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the grant funding be used to augment the operating budget of the Police Department for Fiscal Years 2025-2028; and
WHEREAS, this is the second time the Department has partnered with CA DOJ to address tobacco safety and education via grant funding; and
WHEREAS, funds may be used to enforce our local ordinance and state law related to the illegal sale and marketing of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, to our youths.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby accepts the $157,722 grant from the CA DOJ for the TGP and amends the Fiscal Years 2025-2028 Police Operating Budget to reflect an increase of $157,722.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council does hereby approve Budget Amendment Number 26.051.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a grant agreement, any other necessary documents on behalf of the City to carry out the intent of this resolution, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
