Resolution approving the acceptance of a donation from Genentech, Inc. for its Genentech Gives Back Week program in the amount of $49,614.66 and amending the Parks and Recreation Department Operating Budget pursuant to Budget Amendment Number 27.008.

WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco (“City”) Parks and Recreation Department has worked with Genentech, Inc. (“Genentech”) to host Genentech Gives Back Week events for many years; and

WHEREAS, Genentech committed to volunteering to paint the Sign Hill letters and build greenhouses at Orange Memorial Park and provide funding for procurement of all supplies and materials; and

WHEREAS, on June 2, 2026, over 150 volunteers participated in the two projects; and

WHEREAS, greenhouses donated by Genentech and constructed by volunteers will serve the community by supporting educational programming and volunteerism in support of City parks, and providing space for plant propagation for City landscaping projects and Sign Hill habitat restoration work; and

WHEREAS, the historic letters on Sign Hill were painted to recognize the America 250 celebration; and

WHEREAS, Genentech’s contribution of volunteers and monetary support are greatly appreciated to support the Parks and Recreation Department goals and will provide benefit to the community for years to come.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby approves the acceptance of a donation from Genentech, Inc. for its Genentech Gives Back Week program in the amount of $49,614.66 and amends the Parks and Recreation Department Operating Budget pursuant to Budget Amendment Number 27.008.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager or designee to execute any agreements necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution on behalf of the City Council, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
