RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

It is recommended that the Cultural Arts Commission have an opportunity to learn more information about the City’s existing public art collection through a monthly highlight.

Body

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

In response to commissioners expressing interest in learning more about the City’s public art collection, staff have been providing a public art collection monthly spotlight.

For the June 2025 spotlight, staff have identified three public art pieces, one mural and two sculptures.   The three selected public art pieces this month are located east of the 101 freeway.  The attached presentation of the June 2025 Public Art spotlight provides information on the mural “Prometheus Gives Fire to Man” and two sculptures “Inspire” and “Wild Poppies in the Twilight Rain.”

More information on these pieces and the general public art collection can be found under the “Interactive Map” tab on the Cultural Arts website: www.ssf.net/culturalarts <http://www.ssf.net/culturalarts>.  Note, as previously mentioned, the “Interactive Map” is in the process of being refreshed.
