Resolution Approving the First Amendment to the City of South San Francisco Wage and Salary Schedule for Fiscal Year 2026-2027.

WHEREAS, on July 7, 2026, the City Council adopted a resolution approving City of South San Francisco Wage and Salary Schedule for Fiscal Year 2026-2027; and

 

WHEREAS, staff recommends an amendment to the Wage and Salary Schedule to include the newly established job classification of Paramedic Firefighter Trainee, in order to provide more flexibility in hiring entry-level Paramedic Firefighters; and

 

WHEREAS, the proposed pay rate for the Paramedic Firefighter Trainee is $40.72 per hour; and

 

WHEREAS, staff met and conferred with representatives of the International Union of Firefighters (“IAFF”) Local 1507 and reached tentative agreement on the proposed pay rate and terms and conditions of employment for the job classification; and

 

WHEREAS, staff recommends approval of the amended wage and salary schedule to ensure timely hiring and onboarding of qualified candidates ready to start the paramedic field training prior to starting the fire academy.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby:

1.                     Approves the City of South San Francisco Wage and Salary Schedule for fiscal year 2026-2027 to incorporate recommended changes to job classifications pay rates effective October 14, 2026, attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein.
