Resolution authorizing Budget Amendment Number 26.014 to transfer $521,016.90 from the Right of Way Infrastructure Assessment and Upgrades Project to the Traffic Signal Safety Improvement Project, to increase the construction contract and contingency for Bay Area Lightworks, and to close CIP Project tr2302.

WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco established the Right of Way Infrastructure Assessment and Upgrades Project CIP Project (tr2302) to complete a paused sidewalk and infrastructure inventory and to implement signal backplate upgrades; and

WHEREAS, the sidewalk inventory was completed by Precision Emprise LLC dba Precision Concrete to the satisfaction of staff, and $521,016.90 remains in available budget, consisting of $520,000 in Measure A and $1,016.90 in Traffic Impact Fees; and

WHEREAS, the Traffic Signal Safety Improvement Project CIP Project (tr2403), funded by a $1,527,120 HSIP grant and $500,000 in Traffic Impact Fees, was established to improve signal safety through a new signal, timing changes, and backplate installations; and

WHEREAS, an assessment conducted under tr2403 identified more than 120 corroded or obsolete signal heads, along with deteriorated illuminated street name signs and mounting hardware, which must be replaced to complete the project safely; and

WHEREAS, the reallocation of funds from tr2302 to tr2403 is appropriate and aligned with the original intent of both projects; and

WHEREAS, the construction contract with Bay Area Lightworks, Inc. for tr2403 currently totals $1,080,000 with a 15% contingency of $162,000; and

WHEREAS, the revised scope necessitates increasing the construction contract by $473,651.73 and the contingency by $47,365.17, resulting in a revised contract amount of $1,553,651.73 and a total contingency of $209,365.17; and

WHEREAS, Budget Amendment Number 26.014 has been prepared to reflect this transfer; and
