Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution awarding a construction contract to Spektren Engineering, Inc. of Gilroy, California, for the Curb Ramps & Street Intersection Improvements Project (Project No. st2401, Bid No. 2705) in an amount not to exceed $412,907.54, authorizing a total construction budget of $512,907.54, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the agreement on behalf of the City; and approving associated Budget Amendment Number 26.043.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Curb Ramps & Street Intersection Improvements Project will address drainage and pedestrian access issues at multiple intersections. Work includes removing existing shallow steel arch culvert drain lines and low, depressed drain inlets, with the installation of new storm drain manholes, standard curb inlets, and underground culverts connected to an existing underground storm drain system. The project will also extend an existing underground storm drain system to capture ponding surface water along Grand Avenue, eliminating ponding and overflow concerns impacting nearby residents and public access during heavy rain events.

The storm drain upgrades are integrated with pedestrian access improvements to enhance crosswalk visibility and provide ADA-compliant curb ramps. The project includes pavement restoration and new thermoplastic striping at the intersections of Miller Avenue & Chestnut Avenue, Grand Avenue & Orange Avenue, and Randolph Avenue & Madrone Avenue in South San Francisco, CA.
