RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council consider the attached applications for appointments to open seats on the Equity and Public Safety Commission, Library Board, Parking Place Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, and Youth Commission, and that the City Council interview each applicant. It is further recommended that upon completion of interviews, the Council discuss and consider the appointment of individuals.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Pursuant to Resolution No. 27-2009, the City Council conducts biannual recruitment to consider appointments to Boards, Commissions, and Committees. On June 5, 2026, the City Clerk's Office issued a Notice of Recruitment for vacant seats, with an application deadline of July 6, 2026. On July 9, 2026, the City Clerk's Office issued an Extended Recruitment Notice, with a revised application deadline of July 31, 2026, and interviews scheduled for August 2026.
Summary of Open Seats:
* Equity and Public Safety Commission: One alternate seat is vacant. The applicant may be appointed to a non-expiring term.
* Library Board: One seat is open due to a term resignation. One applicant may be appointed to a partial term expiring on March 31, 2029.
* Parking Place Commission: One seat is vacant. One applicant may be appointed to a three-year term expiring on August 19, 2029; the member will also serve on the Traffic Safety Commission.
* Parks and Recreation Commission: One seat is open due to an unexpected vacancy. One applicant may be appointed to a partial term expiring January 18, 2027.
* Youth Commission: One seat is vacant due to a term expiration. One applicant may be appointed to a two-year term expiring August 19, 2028.
