RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
It is recommended that commissioners either meet on Monday, November 9 or cancel the November meeting altogether.

Body
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
As directed within its bylaws, the Commission on Equity and Public Safety meets every third Monday of the month which has the commission scheduled to meet on Monday, November 16, 2026. The City of South San Francisco’s annual State of the City event is scheduled to occur the same day at the same time. As the event’s logistic coordinator, the commission’s liaison, Devin Stenhouse, is required to attend the State of the City event, thus will be unavailable to facilitate the equity commission meeting.
Regarding potential alternative dates to meet in November, the following Monday, November 23, is the same day as the Annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution Event at the Joseph A. Fernekes Building from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. This event is intended to provide free essential food options for low-income families with the intent of providing relief for families who cannot afford to purchase meaningful food for the Thanksgiving holiday which would be celebrated three days later. The commission’s liaison is scheduled to support this event throughout the day, which would make it difficult to properly prepare to facilitate the commission meeting after.
Rescheduling the meeting to Tuesday through Friday, November 17 – 20 can also be options, however, a quorum of commissioners may be difficult to achieve on any of these dates.
Monday, November 9 might be the best option considering regular meetings are scheduled on the same day of the week.
Finally, if an alternative date cannot be agreed upon, cancelling the November meeting would be the last resort.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion commissioners will decide whether to reschedule the November 2026 commission meetin...
