Resolution approving a purchasing agreement with CDCE Incorporated, for thirty-five police mobile computers in the amount not to exceed $204,299; and authorizing the City Manager to execute the agreement.

WHEREAS, existing police mobile computers have been in place approximately eight years and must be replaced due to age and condition; and
WHEREAS, police officers, police service technicians and parking enforcement officers use mobile computers to communicate with police dispatchers, and to query local, state and federal databases; and
WHEREAS, the Information Technology (IT) Department released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for replacement of thirty-five in-car police car computers; and
WHEREAS, over 300 companies were notified of the RFP and four proposals were received; and
WHEREAS, the IT Director, an IT Technician and a Police Lieutenant conducted interviews with all four vendors; and
WHEREAS, three of the four vendors, including CDCE, provided demo units which allowed Police patrol to test equipment before purchase; and
WHEREAS, after interviews and testing of equipment, City staff determined CDCE is qualified to provide the mobile computer equipment that will work with our existing communications network, records management software, new body camera and mobile access video camera system, and City and CDCE have negotiated a purchase agreement attached hereto as Exhibit A.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby takes the following actions:
1. Approves a purchase agreement with CDCE Inc., a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit A, for the purchase of thirty-five Panasonic CF-33SZ044VM tablets, ruggedized iKey keyboards, GPS and wireless WAN antennas, Havis port replicators with locks, and a five-year warranty for an amount not to exceed $204,299.
