WHEREAS, in 2025, Fire Department personnel applied for and received a California Water Service Firefighter Grant Program award to purchase an advanced fire department training mannequin; and
WHEREAS, Fire Department personnel rely on training mannequins to simulate realistic conditions during fire and rescue training involving the practice of victim rescue; and
WHEREAS, to enhance the quality of training and improve the training environment to more closely mimic real-life scenarios, incorporation of capabilities provided by an advanced training mannequin will show immediate benefit; and
WHEREAS, this grant award does not require a financial funding match and will fully fund the cost of an advanced training mannequin.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby take the following actions:
1. Approve the acceptance of $6,092.70 in grant funding from the California Water Service Firefighter Grant Program to purchase an advanced fire department training mannequin.
2. Approve Budget Amendment Number 26.056 amending the Fire Department’s Fiscal Year 2025-26 Operating Budget.
3. Authorize the City Manager to take any other action consistent with carrying out the intent of this resolution.
