Resolution authorizing the acceptance of grant funding from the American Association of Retired Persons Community Challenge Microgrant Program in the amount of $2,500 and amending the Parks and Recreation Department Fiscal Year 2026-27 Operating Budget pursuant to Budget Amendment Number 27.006.

WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco Parks and Recreation Department has been awarded the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Community Challenge Microgrant in the amount of $2,500 for a series of disaster preparedness workshops for seniors as formalized in the grant agreement attached in Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds four workshops that will be held at recreation centers across the city, and will have Spanish translation services available; and
WHEREAS, each workshop participant will receive a personal emergency preparedness kit that includes a first aid kit, flashlight, thermal blanket, hygiene kit, multifunction tool, water purifying straw, can opener, and more; and
WHEREAS, Budget Amendment Number 27.006 will increase the Parks and Recreation Department’s fiscal year 2026-2027 revenue and expenditure budgets by $2,500.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby approves the acceptance of grant funds from the AARP Community Challenge Microgrant Program in the amount of $2,500 and amends the Parks and Recreation Department Fiscal Year 2026-27 Operating Budget pursuant to Budget Amendment Number 27.006.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager or designee to execute any grant agreements and any other actions necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution on behalf of the City Council, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
