Resolution authorizing the acceptance of $7,500 from the California State Library to support Project Read through the Adult Literacy Services and Family Literacy Services programs and amending the Library Department’s Fiscal Year 2025-26 Operating Budget and approving Budget Amendment Number 26.057.

WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco (“City”) Library Department established Project Read to assist adults and their families in reaching literacy goals; and
WHEREAS, Project Read’s Adult and Family Literacy Services programs support adults and families through individualized literacy instruction, volunteer tutor development, early literacy services, and access to library resources; and
WHEREAS, the California State Library has awarded the Library $7,500 to support Project Read’s Adult Literacy Services and Family Literacy Services programs; and
WHEREAS, the funding will support the continuation of the Adult Literacy Services and Family Literacy Services programs offered for low-literacy adults and families in North San Mateo County; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of funding in the amount of $7,500 from the California State Library to support Project Read’s Adult Literacy Services and Family Literacy Services programs in FY 2025-26.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby accept $7,500 in funding from the California State Library to support Project Read’s Adult Literacy Services and Family Literacy Services programs and amend the Library Department’s FY 2025-26 Operating Budget and approve Budget Amendment Number 26.057.
