RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Staff recommends that the City Council approve, by motion, the reappointment of Cultural Arts Commissioners Maharaj, Huerta, and Ramos to their respective four-year terms expiring July 10, 2030.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

As indicated in the newly adopted City Council Handbook, a total of three incumbents received written communication informing them of their upcoming term expirations. All three members have confirmed their continued interest in serving on the Cultural Arts Commission. 

Below are the recommended reappointments: 

The Cultural Arts Commission meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Parks and Recreation Center located at 901 Civic Campus Way. Commissioners are appointed to four (4) year terms and are limited to three (3) consecutive terms. The Commission encourages and promotes cultural arts activities within the community and acts as an advisory body to the City Council on matters pertaining to the arts and cultural affairs.

Cultural Arts Commission

Zubin Maharaj - eligible for reappointment

Commissioner Maharaj was appointed on  April 2, 2021, to a term ending June 13, 2026.

Alexia Huerta - eligible for reappointment

Commissioner Huerta was appointed on  August 30, 2023, to a term ending June 13, 2026.

Vivian Ramos - eligible for reappointment

Commissioner Ramos was appointed on  February 21, 2024, to a term ending June 13, 2026.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact associated with this action.

CONCLUSION

Staff recommends that the City Council approve, by motion, the reappointment of Cultural Arts Commissioners Maharaj, Huerta, and Ramos to their respective four-year terms expiring
July 10, 2030.
