Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution awarding a construction contract to JJR Construction, Inc. of San Mateo, California, for the CDBG Ramps and Paths Project (No., ST2506, Bid No., 2701) in an amount not to exceed $723,267.25, authorizing a total construction contract authority budget of $833,267.25, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the agreement on behalf of the City.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
In 2023, the City of South San Francisco allocated $1,000,000 to Complete Streets Improvements Project (No. ST2401) to design and construct various pedestrian and drainage improvements throughout the City.

In 2024, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program identified eligible public improvement projects within Project ST2401. The project scope includes removing and reconstructing approximately 80 curb ramps at certain locations in the City and constructing an accessible path at Cypress and Pine Park.

The community will benefit from new curb ramps by providing a ramped surface from the crosswalk to the sidewalk, improving mobility for road users with ambulatory difficulties, and improving the experience for anyone, whether walking, pushing a stroller, or in a wheelchair. The accessible path connection at Cypress and Pine Park will similarly improve access to park facilities and unlock new funding opportunities.
