Resolution accepting $157,573.79 from an anonymous donor through the 100 Club of San Mateo County to support and enhance the Police Department's drone program and amend the Police Department's Operating Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-26 by approving Budget Amendment Number 26.055 to increase General Fund budgeted revenues and expenditures by the amount of the donation.

WHEREAS, the Police Department was approached by an anonymous donor through the 100 Club of San Mateo County to support and enhance the Police Department's drone program; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department began utilizing drone technology for patrol operations in the beginning of 2025; and
WHEREAS, the uses of drones include, but are not limited to, scene documentation, area searches for people and/or evidence, disaster response, tactical operations, and critical incident management; and
WEHREAS, the Police Department remains committed to being on the cutting edge of technology and is actively working to expand our drone fleet; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has been recognized as one of the leading agencies in San Mateo County in the utilization of drone technology; and
WHEREAS, purchasing additional indoor drones with enhanced autonomy and remote flight capabilities will allow officers to safely clear and assess interior spaces; reducing the risk to both officers and the public; and
WHEREAS, expanding and upgrading of our outdoor drones will allow our drone operators to utilize the most current technology and expand coverage throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the donation be used to augment the operating budget of the Police Department for Fiscal Year 2025-26.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby accepts the $157,573.79 from an anonymous donor through the 100 Club of San Mateo County and amends the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Police Operating Budget to reflect an increase of $157,573.79 to increase Gener...
