RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

It is recommended that the City Council waive reading and adopt an ordinance making findings and approving the First Amendment to the Development Agreement between Alexandria Real Estate Equities (ARE)-San Francisco No. 21, LP, ARE-San Francisco No. 42, LLC, and the City of South San Francisco to relocate the parking garage, reduce the parking ratio, and create a campus open space at the previously entitled Office/ R&D Project (Merck Campus) at 213-221 East Grand Avenue.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On June 14, 2017, the City Council waived reading and introduced an ordinance to amend the Development Agreement between ARE-San Francisco No. 21, LP, ARE-San Francisco No. 42, LLC, and the City of South San Francisco the office/R&D Merck Campus at 213 -221 East Grant Avenue. The ordinance is to modify the site plan by moving the parking garage to the east side of the project site, reduce the number of parking spaces at the project, and create a campus open space area, as shown in the First Amendment to the Development Agreement attached to the associated ordinance as Exhibit A. The ordinance is now ready for adoption.
