Resolution authorizing the acceptance of grant funding of up to $2,000 from the Yiddish Book Center’s “Between Two Worlds” Public Libraries Program to support literary and cultural programming at the South San Francisco Public Library, amending the Library Department’s Fiscal Year 2025-26 Operating Budget and approving Budget Amendment Number 26.022.

WHEREAS, the Library serves a diverse and vibrant community within San Mateo County, where residents represent a broad spectrum of cultural, ethnic, and religious identities; and
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco (“City”) Library Department has been selected to participate in the Yiddish Book Center’s “Between Two Worlds” Public Libraries Program, a national initiative that brings Yiddish literature in translation to public libraries across the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Library will host reading groups and related programming centered on selected titles of Yiddish literature in translation; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of the grant funding of up to $2,000 to pay for expenses related to guest speakers and enhanced programming; and
WHEREAS, receipt of these grant funds does not commit the City to ongoing funding; and
WHEREAS, the foregoing grant funds will be used to amend the Library Department’s Fiscal Year 2025-26 Operating Budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby accepts grant funding of up to $2,000 from the Yiddish Book Center’s “Between Two Worlds” Public Libraries Program and approves Budget Amendment Number 26.022.
