BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

At the same meeting, commissioners brainstormed several topics to be discussed at the retreat. Potential topics included the following:

* Reviewing and updating commission bylaws (specifically the alternate commissioner position)
* How to enhance commissioners' role as an advisory body to city council and city manager
* How to evolve or have more impact on the community
* Commissioner training
* Small group activities
* Identify priorities for the rest of the year and/or 2027
* Position strategically as advisory body to the City Council and Manager
* Clarify the roles and responsibilities of the Commission's officers
* Identify and recommend specific equity and inclusion action improvements
* Serve as community-city liaison to improve transparency
* Build partnerships including community networks and local organizations...
