It is recommended commissioners develop a standardized interview and/or survey questionnaire to be used to extract feedback from attendees at community events regarding services from the City of South San Francisco
Body
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
As stated in the commission’s bylaws, “this Commission bolsters community participation and decision making and increases transparency and accountability”. To be an effective advisory body to city council and the city manager, commissioners must rely on feedback from the community to understand their needs and how to support their needs. In 2025, the commission received feedback in a variety of ways such as developing and implementing a virtual questionnaire to the community via FlashVote survey as well as conducting follow up interviews via in-person interviews to participants at Cultura Fest. The goal of each was to gain insight into SSF residents’ perceptions of trust, transparency, and equity within City policies, programs, and procedures. While the goal was met by these methods, commissioners expressed a desire to develop a standardized questionnaire that could be used to spark conversations with residents at any future community event.
