BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Cultura Fest will be an event co-hosted by the City of South San Francisco and El Concilio of San Mateo County on Saturday, August 23 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Grand Ave. between Maple Ave. and Spruce Ave. The goal of Cultura Fest is to create a platform for cultural exploration and creative expression, uniting the community through music, art, and food. The event will be a vibrant celebration of Salvadoran and Latin American heritage, creativity, and community. This event unites tradition with modern expression, offering attendees opportunities for cultural exploration, meaningful connections, while promoting self-discovery and community pride.

The event will feature comedy, music, and art that honor Salvadoran and Latin American traditions. Event highlights include a food section with traditional and innovative Latin American dishes, an exhibit hall showcasing art, and a family-friendly area for cultural crafts and interactive activities. A beer garden, live performances, and a parade to kick off the event. All while the bustling market allows vendors to display and sell culturally significant goods.

Beyond entertainment, Cultura Fest aims to build interconnections between businesses and also deepen their engagement with the community. Local businesses are invited to participate by transforming their storefronts into cultural exhibits, reflecting what culture means to them and showcasing their entrepreneurial journeys.
