Resolution awarding a construction contract to Liffey Electric of San Francisco, California, for the Chestnut Avenue and Commercial Avenue Intersection Improvements project (tr2404) in an amount not to exceed $1,016,000, authorizing a total construction contract authority of $1,219,200, and related actions.

Body
WHEREAS the Chestnut Avenue and Commercial Avenue Intersection Improvements project ("Project") will construct a traffic signal and roadside improvements at the existing all-way stop controlled intersection of Chestnut Avenue and Commercial Avenue in South San Francisco; and

WHEREAS the City issued a Notice Inviting Bids for the Project in accordance with the City's purchasing policy for public works projects; and

WHEREAS on March 13, 2026, the City received seven (7) bid proposals in response to the Notice Inviting Bids; and

WHEREAS City staff reviewed all bid proposals and determined that Liffey Electric of San Francisco, California is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder; and

WHEREAS staff verified that Liffey Electric holds a valid contractor's license in good standing with the California Contractors State License Board; and

WHEREAS staff recommends awarding a construction contract to Liffey Electric in an amount not to exceed $1,016,000, which represents the base bid amount; and

WHEREAS staff further recommends authorizing a total construction budget of $1,219,200, which includes a construction contingency of twenty percent (20%) to address unforeseen conditions; and

WHEREAS the Project (CIP No. tr2404) is included in the City of South San Francisco's Capital Improvements Program and is funded by Traffic Impact Fees.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby awards a construction contract, substantially in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference, to Liffey Electric of San Francisco, California, for the Chestnut Avenue and Commercial Avenue ...
