RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
It is recommended that City Council adopt a resolution accepting funds from the United States Department of Justice in the amount of $40,751 to support the purchase of public safety laptops, tablet computers, and vehicle disinfectant equipment and approve Budget Amendment 21.004.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Responding to impacts from COVID-19, both police and fire departments experienced new requirements to continue maintaining operational service levels. These requirements included the ability for additional administrative staff to work remotely, data capture capability in field settings, and the ability to quickly disinfect response apparatus. On May 29, 2020, the Information Technology Department applied for funding from the United States Department of Justice, requesting all eligible funding offered for this grant opportunity. On June 5, 2020, the Information Technology Department was notified of a grant award for $40,751 to purchase laptop computers, tablet computers, and vehicle disinfectant equipment. Conditions to accept the grant award are attached in the Award Report.
FISCAL IMPACT
Grant funds will be used to amend the Information Technology Department's FY20-21 Operating Budget per Budget Amendment 21.004. Receipt of these funds does not commit the City to ongoing funding.
