Resolution to Amend the City of South San Francisco Salary Schedule to Reinstate the Classification of Deputy Police Chief

WHEREAS, the classification of Deputy Police Chief first was established in 2013, and has been inactive since 2016; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends reinstating the classification of Deputy Police Chief in order to provide effective leadership and administrative oversight to the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends an adjustment to the salary range for the classification of Deputy Police Chief in order to maintain an appropriate internal alignment among management positions; and
WHEREAS, City Council desires to amend the salary schedule for the City of South San Francisco in order to re-establish the position and implement the new salary range.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby:
1. Amend the Salary Schedule for the City of South San Francisco dated January 1, 2022 to reflect a salary range for the position of Deputy Police Chief of $205,963-$250,349, represented as an hourly equivalent and attached herein as Exhibit A.
2. Authorize the City Manager to take any actions necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution on behalf of the City Council.
