It is recommended that the City Council, by motion, establish term expiration dates that align with the South San Francisco Municipal Code for Cultural Arts Commissioner Luster; Parks and Recreation Commissioners Rey, Camacho, and Chan; and Planning Commissioners Faria, Evans, and Pamukcu.
Body
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Pursuant to Resolution No. 27-2009, the City Council holds biannual recruitments/meetings for the purpose of considering appointments to Boards and Commissions.
The City Council interviewed and appointed the following commissioners:
At the January 18, 2023 meeting, Council interviewed and appointed the following members to terms expiring January 18, 2027:
• Cultural Arts Commission: Commissioner Luster
• Parks and Recreation Commission: Commissioner Camacho
• Planning Commission: Commissioners Faria and Evans
At the April 4, 2023 meeting, Council interviewed and appointed the following member to a term expiring April 4, 2027:
• Planning Commission: Commissioner Pamukcu
At the August 27, 2024 meeting, Council interviewed and appointed the following member to a partial term expiring January 18, 2027:
• Parks and Recreation Commission: Commissioner Rey
At the August 19, 2026 meeting, Council interviewed and appointed the following member to a partial term expiring January 18, 2027:
• Parks and Recreation Commission: Commissioner Chan
During the transition to the City’s online advisory body portal and as a result of calculation oversight, Council set these members' term expirations in odd-numbered years. To comply with the South San Francisco Municipal Code Sections 2.80.040, 2.60.020, and 2.56.020, members of the aforementioned bodies are to be appointed to serve four years, with staggered terms expiring in even-numbered years.
Therefore, staff proposes shortening the terms to expire on December 31, 2026, an even-numbered year; all members will remain in office until reappointed or replaced, with new or reappointed members serving a term expiring on December 31, 2030.
