Body

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Library has received $19,861 from local businesses, community groups, individuals, and others, including those mentioned below, to support Project Read literacy programs and services via the Annual Trivia Challenge Event. Project Read provides literacy services for children, families, and adults through programs such as Adult Tutoring, Families for Literacy, and Learning Wheels, which foster family and children’s learning. These initiatives create meaningful opportunities for lifelong education, helping individuals achieve their personal learning goals. On November 15, 2024, Project Read held the 31st Annual Trivia Challenge with 27 competing teams and nearly 300 participants. Gross revenue from the event included sponsorships, donations, a silent auction, a raffle, and team and dinner fees, totaling $42,149. After expenses of $22,288, the net income was $19,861, which will be accepted into Project Read’s donation account and used to amend the Library Department’s FY 2024-25 budget to support books for learners ($7,861), staff development ($3,000), program promotion/marketing ($1,000), community collaboration initiatives ($5,000) and equipment ($3,000). Donations and sponsorships for the 31st Annual Trivia Challenge totaling $24,000 include:
