Resolution amending an existing consulting services agreement with MIG, Inc. for additional landscape architecture services, and construction support services for the New Park at Linden and Pine Avenue Project (Project No. pk2305) in an amount not to exceed $65,335, authorizing a contract contingency of $13,067 and extend the contract period to December 31, 2027 on behalf of the City of South San Francisco.

WHEREAS, the New Park at Linden Avenue and Pine Avenue Project consists of two parcels located at 616 Linden Avenue and 700 Linden Avenue, along with an approximately 100-foot section of Pine Avenue between the parcels (collectively, the “Project Site”), totaling approximately 0.79 acres. The site is located in a mixed residential and commercial area. The 616 Linden Avenue parcel is currently used as a parking lot, and 700 Linden Avenue is a largely undeveloped grass lot bisected by a pedestrian pathway; and
WHEREAS, the New Park at Linden and Pine Avenue project will require demolition of the existing 0.32-acre parking lot at 700 Linden Avenue, vacant lot at 616 Linden Avenue, and an approximately 100-foot section of Pine Avenue, and the construction of a new neighborhood park that will contain a plaza/outdoor event space, lawns, picnic areas, play structures, a fitness and games area, stub ups for a potential restroom, new parking areas, new one-way lane, and new lighting and landscaping; and
WHEREAS, on November 1, 2023, the City Council awarded a Consulting Services Agreement to MIG, Inc of Berkeley, California (“Consultant”) for professional design services for the New Park at Linden and Pine Avenue Project in the amount of $526,920; and
WHEREAS, MIG has performed satisfactorily on the New Park at Linden and Pine Avenue project and has provided deliverables and services as outlined in Agreement; and
WHEREAS, efforts beyond the original scope have been requested by the City to advance the project design; and
WHEREAS, the contract end date was extended from December 31, 2025, to June 30, 2026, through the First Addendum to the existing consultant services agreement with Consultant for the New Park at Linden and Pine Avenue with no impact to the contract value; and
WHEREAS, to allow this work to proceed, staff recommends approving a Second Amendment to the existing consultant services agreement with Consultant for the New Park at Linden and Pine Avenue project in an amount not to exceed $65,335; and
WHEREAS, funding for the Project is included in the City of South San Francisco Capital Improvement Program (“CIP”) and sufficient funds are available to cover the amendment cost.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby authorizes the Second Amendment attached herewith as “Exhibit A” of the existing consulting services agreement with MIG of Berkeley, California in an amount not to exceed $65,335, authorizing a total not to exceed contract amount of $605,332 and extend the contract period to December 31, 2027.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the agreement amendments and any other related on behalf of the City upon timely submission of MIG’s signed agreement amendment and all other required documents, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the City Manager to take any other related actions consistent with the intention of the resolution.
