Resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a purchasing agreement on behalf of the City of South San Francisco with Diamondback Fire and Rescue, Inc. in the amount of $85,491.13 to purchase two complete sets of vehicle extrication equipment; approve Budget Amendment Number 26.028 to the Fire Department operating budget in an amount not to exceed $44,204.13; authorize the appropriation of $19,662.96 of available fund balance from the Fire Public Safety Impact Fee Fund (Fund 821); and authorize the appropriation of $25,541.17 of designated fund balance from developer impact fees from Genesis North Tower (account 270-27475) (Devin Flannery, Deputy Fire Chief).

WHEREAS, the Fire Department currently operates a complete set of extrication equipment on each of its two quint apparatus that have both been in service for 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Fire Department staff have continually researched equipment or systems that reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the transition away from dependency on fossil fuels to electricity; and
WHEREAS, Fire Department staff are requesting appropriation of available fund balance from the Fire Public Safety Impact Fee Fund (Fund 821) to fund 23% of the total purchase price of two full sets of extrication equipment not to exceed $19,662.96; and
WHEREAS, Fire Department staff are requesting appropriation of designated fund balance of developer impact fees paid from the Genesis North Tower development to offset the total purchase price of two full sets of extrication equipment not to exceed $24,541.17; and
WHEREAS, the recommended extrication equipment manufactured by AMKUS Rescue Systems (AMKUS) is only available for distribution throughout California by a single vendor, Diamondback Fire and Rescue, Inc.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Diamondback Fire and Rescue, Inc. to purchase two full sets of AMKUS extrication equipment, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council approves Budget Amendment Number 26.028 to the Fire Department operating budget in the amount of $44,204.13.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes appropriation of $19,662.96 of available fund balance from the Fire Public Safety Impact Fee Fund (Fund 821) for 23% of the total purchase of two sets of extrication equipment.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the appropriation of $24,541.17 of designated fund balance of developer impact fees from the Genesis North Tower development.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the City Manager to take any other action consistent with carrying out the intent of this resolution.
