a) Tuesday, May 7, 2024, 10:30-11:30 AM - Toddler Storytime with Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Author, Kenny Lee, will read his picture book about twins called, We, but Me, as well as When a Monster is Born by Sean Taylor on. His passion for picture books was nurtured at library story times and bookstore visits that sparked his daughters' love for reading. For children 18 months to 3 years of age with parent or caregiver. b) Friday, May 10, 2024, 1:00-3:00 PM - Adult Crafternoon: Paper Lanterns. Let's celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Month and make a Japanese paper lantern using the Cameo. (Library | Parks & Recreation Center)
c) Saturday, May 11, 2024, 3:00-4:15 PM - Painting with Pauline Tsui: Celebrate AAPI Heritage! Workshop for all ages. Learn about the cultural values and symbols of diverse regions. d) Thursday, May 16, 2024, 2:00-3:00 PM - Asian Art Museum presents Art Across Asia. Explore some answers as illustrated by a few of the very best treasures of the Asian Art Museum. Fabulous statues, ancient bronzes, mystic jade, delicate ceramics, and evocative paintings-let them engulf you in their amazing beauty and workmanship. The Asian Art Museum Docent Program is generously supported by the Dhanam Foundation and Society for Asian Art. This program is made possible by the South San Francisco Friends of the Library. e) Saturday, May 18, 2024, 11:00 AM-1:00 PM - Intro to Drawing Workshop: Draw the Tree of Life - Join us on in a supportive environment where people can share their love for drawing. We will draw together step-by-step starting with learning how to hold your pencil and ending with creating your own version of the Tree of Life. f) Sunday, May 19, 2024, 2:30-3:30 PM - Learn about the Oyster Point Dragons Learn about the history and basics of dragon boating in this presentation led by South San Francisco's Oyster Point Dragons. This paddling team consists of a diverse group of individuals, ages 13 to 78. The team's vision is to expand and promote the sport of dragon boating as a health promotion program, approach to leadership development, and a team building technique. Find out about their various community-focused programs and how to get involved, plus get an up-close look at some of the drums and other equipment used on the boats!
