Staff recommends that the City Council approve, by motion, the re-appointment of two (2) Conference Center Authority Members, Vishal “BJ” Patel and Richard Garbarino, to respective four-year terms expiring May 14, 2029, one (1) South San Francisco representative, Michael Yoshida, to the San Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Control, for a two-year term expiring December 31, 2027, or a four-year term expiring December 31, 2029, and solicit applicants to fill two (2) seats for the Housing Authority, for respective terms ending May 14, 2029.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
As indicated in the newly adopted City Council Handbook, incumbents received written communication informing them of their upcoming term expirations. Five have confirmed their continued interest in serving on the Commission. All responses were submitted to Mayor Flores for review and consideration, after review, the Mayor has recommended that members be appointed to the Conference Center Authority and the San Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Control and that the City Clerk’s office solicit applicants to fill the two (2) vacancies for the Housing Authority, incumbents submitted their interest in reappointment and will be included in the recruitment list and will be invited to interview for their respective seats.
Below is a list of incumbents recommended for approval by Mayor Flores:
The Conference Center Authority consists of ten members appointed to four-year terms by the City Council and limited to three consecutive terms. The Conference Center Authority meets on the first Monday of every other month, at 4:45 p.m. The purpose of the Authority is to manage, operate, market, maintain, and promote the South San Francisco Conference Center.

The San Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Control District consists of a South San Francisco resident appointed as a representative to either two-year or four-year terms by the City Council. The Board meets monthly on the second Wednesday each month at 6:00 p.m. The San Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Control District is an agency that protects public health through a science-based program of integrated vector management.

The Housing Authority consists of five members appointed to four-year terms by the City Council. The Commission meets on the second Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. The Housing Authority’s services include developing, operating, and maintaining housing projects and examining affordable housing issues, including the unmet housing needs of low-income residents. Recruitment for this body will open on Friday, May 16, 2025.
